Five Summers is a private education company offering taught courses, tutorial support, career planning and university application support services to talented and ambitious high school students. Based in Vancouver, Canada, we are a start-up with an accomplished, motivated, and collaborative team working closely to live out the vision of the company: delivering first-class educational services and support to students and their families in order to help students develop into high quality scholars who will go on to excel at top universities around the world. In the past years, our students have earned admission to top-ranked universities and colleges including Harvard, Princeton, Stanford, Brown, Yale, Columbia, University of Pennsylvania, University of Chicago, Williams, Swarthmore, Pomona, Cambridge University, Oxford University, and many other prestigious institutions.
English Teacher
Term: Part-time
Salary: $40 – $60 an hour, depending on qualifications and experience, class size, and performance.
Workplace: A combination of in-person teaching at our Kerrisdale office and online teaching via Zoom.
Qualifications:

Background in English (related degree or teaching experience)

A minimum of one year of experience in teaching English reading and writing
-
Availability to teach during afternoons, evenings, or weekends.

Experience in teaching SAT/SSAT/ACT, and/or AP/IB English related subjects

Experience in teaching standardized test prep camp would be an asset

Able to teach onsite would be an asset.

We are a respected high-end education company that was founded in 2013. We offer high school and career planning, college/university application support services, and academic tutoring to Lower Mainland high school students seeking admission to top-tier US universities, as well as excellent universities in the UK and Canada. Our office is located in Vancouver’s Kerrisdale neighborhood and houses a diverse and talented team of individuals who work in a collegial environment. Each team member is encouraged to share their ideas and lean into their strengths as they meet basic position requirements, including but not limited to meeting and keeping in contact with students on their caseload, record-keeping, producing brief Mid and End-of-Year Reports, and attending staff meetings as needed.
The students we work with have a wide range of academic interests, from the visual and performing arts to STEM to business. As such, we have assisted students in gaining acceptance to their best-fit universities, which over the years has included Harvard and Princeton for History and Math, NYU Tisch for Film and Television, UC Berkeley for Computer Science, USC for Engineering, and Cornell for Architecture. In each case, our advisors provided informed and tailored guidance to their respective students. We would expect the same standard of work from our new associate advisor.
